Elevator Pitch No.3

Image
Our Standard Pitch: ClassroomSync is a platform that enables students to use their personal devices that they already use on a daily basis. We provide students with an app that contains many different sub apps like textbooks, calculators, clickers, web-browsers, pretty much anything you can imagine. We then link the students device to the teachers computer and update the teacher on which sub-app the student is currently in. This enables teachers and schools to allow their students to use their phones in a productive manner, that traditionally they would just outright ban the use of phones in schools. We take student security extremely security and have coined the term of non-intrusive monitoring. By saying this, we only enable teachers to see a summary of what their students are doing, and not a thumbnail because this intrudes on the students privacy on their phones as well as allowing a teacher to very quickly ensure that all of their students are using their phones correctly. ...

Reading Reflection No.2

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? The general theme of the book looked at the many factors and events that helped the Wright brothers build character and eventually lead them on their path. They faces countless failures and doubt until they had actually achieved flight, but kept pursuing their goal as well as learning from their goals.  2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? While reading the book, I connected with the characters because of how they viewed their failures and shortcomings not as a reason to quit their endeavor, but used it as a learning experience. There are things that have happened to me in years past that at the time seemed like the end of the world, but in retrospect, actually had a profound positive impact on me and my journey through life so far.  3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? I woul...

Growing Your Social Capital

Growing Your Social Capital  James Gibson is a close friend of mine who owns Scholly which is a platform aimed at enabling students to take college classes at their community colleges during summer or when at home. I regard him as a domain expert in our industry since he has had major success in California with his product/service. We had first met through a my mentor and he has offered me advice for many troubling times the company has gone through so far.  Ethan Fieldman is a colleague that founded Study Edge. We had originally met at a networking event and also at an Education Technology Conference in Orlando. He would be regarded as an expert in our market segment, I selling products to the college market. Ethan and I have talked about entering into college, however, by the basis of our differing products, it forces us to take different strategies of obtaining similar goals.  Lindsey Tropf is the CEO of Immersed Games, which is also an EdTec company and ...

Idea Napkin No.2

You Related to one of the previous posts, I believe I am blessed with the vision of imagining products and how they would fit in society before they're even invented. My main goal in my aspirations of being an entrepreneur are to create an impact on the schooling/education system to be beneficial with the prominence of personal smartphones. This business, which has already been started, takes up the majority of my time and dedication and I plan to run forward full-time in the near future or after getting my degree What are you offering to customers My company offers a cost reduction service as well as the creation of a secure testing and classroom environment, by incorporating the use of student's personal devices that they already bring with them to school. Many schools with one-to-one computers, spend at the bare minimum of 70,000$ annually just to maintain their fleet of student-used computers (Expecting a generous 5 year lifespan of communal computers)  Who are yo...

Customer Avatar

Image
This is an image of a small startup working in a communal WeWork in New York. These people would most likely fall under the 'millennial' category, they are driven and determined and will post 'Rise and Grind' every morning. The people captured in this image are most likely college students are recent graduates that have sensed the allure of creating a company from scratch. These people are/were in search I feel that I share the drive and the passion to make an impact with the people depicted in the images. Many of the people in the photo, I feel like I share much in common with because for my company, I have spent much time in communal work spaces as well as the allure of bootstrapping a company until it has some source of revenue. The reason why I have an interest in creating a communal work space for college students at the University of Florida is because I see the need for it, as my company could benefit from a service like this as well.

What's your secret sauce?

5 unique human capital strategies Product Design/Visualization With my background as a mechanical engineer, I have always enjoyed and practice seeing how things work together. I feel that I am able to visualize things and how they could work together, even if they don't exist already Dedication/One-track mind When I find myself determined towards a certian thing, I can spend many days solely focused on what I feel passionate about. Sadly, is this rarely about school and usually focuses on business or related ventures Networking I am fortunate the my network is highly connected into the startup community since it is such a small and tight-knit sphere. I also feel that this is due to my networking skills and finding out what benefit I can bring to people to help them. Team Management Since my company currently has 4 interns, a skill that I have learned over time is person management, so that way a cohesive team is formed Work Ethic Like mentioned in 2, I like to...

Evaluating How your customers evaluate stuff

Since I had neglected to do last weeks assignment, I wasn't able to say that this product that I have been thinking about would be a version of WeWork for the Gainesville startup/self-employed student population. For those that don't know, WeWork is a company that buys/rents real estate and then subleases work spaces that enables people to access a creative and productive work space with all the tools that they would need.  Find people who would fit the customer segment and interview them Ana Primo Ana runs a startup that she feels could use this service. Her company that she co-founded is currently not at the stage that they can rent a dedicated space of their own to use, so they think that they could benefit from the rented space.  Paul Ramirez  Paul currently works for a small startup that runs out the Innovation Hub, he has talked to me that his company shouldn't be renting out their own space. He thinks that his company would benefit from the cheaper ren...
