Solving the Problem
As mentioned 'Testing the Hypothesis' blogpost, my problem and opportunity was the need for a monitoring solution that could be implemented in students personal devices, that would be easy to use, quick and reliable. I am fortunate because, for this idea, I have already gotten to these steps and have created a finished product.
- Problem (Recap)
- Unless teachers are looking over their students personal devices, they have no idea of what their students are doing and most often will not let their students use their devices.
- Solution (1st part)
- To enable teachers to know what their students will be doing on their personal devices, I had devised an app that students would download onto their personal devices, that would create a link between that devices and the teachers computer. To make it easy on the teacher, we devised of a method that would allow teachers to quickly view it their students are using our platform, their name and then which sub-app they are in (as seen below)
- Solution (2nd part)
- Now that teachers would be able to see what their students are doing when they have our platform open, we now need to find a way to incorporate a method of selecting sub-apps and creating a general classroom feel. To solve this we created a method that would enable students to enroll themselves into a teacher-created classroom. This would make it easier for the teacher to use rather than enrolling or importing their classroom roster by hand. We also devised of a platform that mimicked a home screen of an iPhone that would enable students to easily select a sub app they want to use.
Our Main Value Proposition Pitch
ClassroomSync is a
suite of tools that enables students to access a variety of tools that would
help them from any class from Art Appreciation to Calculus II. We also create a
bridge between the students device and the teachers computer, and updates the teacher
in a non-intrusive monitoring technique that updates the teacher in vital
information on their students while using their devices. Currently many schools
ban the use of personal devices because there is no way for the teacher to
truly know what their students are doing on their devices and will buy physical
technologies instead. Our platform enables schools to save enormous amounts of
money on these technologies by digitalizing the physical tools. Since we now
know what the students are doing on their devices with ClassroomSync, we are
able to create a secure environment by removing distractions caused by the
phones and the ability to cheat. Teachers have been allowing their students to
use calculator sub-apps on math tests as well as just having students stay on
their home screens so that way teacher know with 100% certainty that the
students are not using their phones to get an academic advantage.
Collin,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post! I really liked how you provided diagrams of how this product will work. There have been times where I see students are surfing Facebook or responding to a text message on their laptops. As attending college is a personal decision that everyone made, no one can force students to take notes in lecture or study for an upcoming exam. This method will help professors make sure that students are engaging in class and understanding the course material.
This is a great post, I read the previous post to better understand your product and this sounds awesome. You put in a lot of effort to create a system that could help bridge the gap in schools. As a student I can see the importance of this system and I feel like it will benefit both the student and the teacher. This is really innovated to create something that will definitely be need as the years go by.
