Final Reflection

Experiences since the beginning Since starting this class, my company had changed names, employed and fired multiple people, displayed at the US's biggest EdTec Convention in Orlando and brought on our first investor.  What will you remember years later I will never forget the experience and especially that this was the first year that my company really started to get a foothold in the market as well as developing a team behind the product.  Do I consider myself to be an entrepreneur Yes, last year I had idealized myself to be an entrepreneur, however, since my product was not tangible until this year. I have fully become the entrepreneur I aspire to be as well as being 'delusionally optimistic' which many of my other founder friends and I share.  Recommendation  A recommendation that I have to any aspiring entrepreneur is to never underestimate the power of connections and networking. At first I was always afraid to talk to people regarding my produc...

Opportunity The main forces that are allowing a product like ClassroomSync is the lack of understanding and of how useful the personal devices that students being with them everywhere. Also the addition of many cheap school-friendly computers or Chromebooks, that still manage to rack up a annual cost of over a hundred thousand to maintain the fleet of computers, enables a software alternative the enables students to use their personal devices in a productive manner. This market is limitless in scale, as it is primarily software, We expect this opportunity to be gigantic, we have estimated, just in the US alone, our market cap to be $500 million annually. As I will mention later, this is an old estimate, we are currently changing our billing fees   Innovation ClassroomSync is a method that enables students to utilize their own personal devices rather than using school owned devices or none at all. This section will leave out some critical information as certain sectio...

Reading Reflection No3

In the time frame from the last reading reflection we needed to do, I was surprised to see that one of the books that a friend had recommended was on this list. He highly suggested that I read this and after listening to the audio book I was glad he had. Phil Knight was the founder of Nike (priory known as Blue Ribbon) and wrote a paper while in college questioning if Japanese produced shoes would be able to corner the market, like Japanese produced cameras and electronics did to the electronic market. He was able to impress a Japanese manufacturer of shoes and upon sending a sample to his old running coach, he had offered to become his mentor and partner which truly excelled his

What's Next?

Existing Market What's next for ClassroomSync's main product is the expansion of its sub-app base. We are currently have used some in-house created sub-apps to include into our platform. But are starting to work with students as well as outsourcing the creation of these sub-apps to be included in our platform Mr.Ebbert I consulted Mr.Ebbert what he feels would be a good addition to our line of sub-apps that we want to add in the future. For reasons of maintaining a competitive edge, I am not going to disclose it, also because he signed a NDA regarding this specific conversation since we talked about other things as well.  Dr.Carr Dr.Carr is a principal of a high school that upon giving her feedback, suggested that we include a camera into our platform. She told me that her school was planning on spending money on tens of thousands of dollars buying physical cameras, and thought it would be an interesting idea to create a sub-app that would enable students to use the...

Celebrating Failure

One time that I had failed recently, before starting ClassroomSync, I devised a get-rich-quick idea of creating a Communism rendition of Monopoly and funding it through KickStarter. I had designed many of the drawings by spending tens of hours mindlessly drawing on my computer but still borrowed many game play aspects from the base game. There was also a website that prints and even distributes board games that people make. I believed that I would only need to make the game and post it and buyers would come running towards me begging to take the product from my hands. For those that don't know, KickStarting a project is many many times harder than simply creating a product and then posting the project. I thought that I would be able to do this and not spend any money on advertising or any other out-of-pocket expenses before the project launched.  Reality set in about a week into the KickStarter having launched, with a total sales of $235 of our $10,000 goal, we were miles away from...

Your Exit Strategy

NOTE: As this would look bad to an investor, I am choosing to write about a 'side-hustle' and how I plan to exit that rather than planning to exit ClassroomSync. A side hustle that I have worked on on and off over the last five years is a small company that gathers certified drone pilots and brands them under one logo and brand. Exit Strategy This 'company' was my first true en devour into entrepreneurship and when starting the company I had never really considered exiting the company. However, since this company was based out of my hometown, I had left a friend in charge of the company. However, if this company was my main hustle, I would've issued shares of the company and searched for a buyer that would want to buy the shares (and in turn control) of the company   Why This Strategy? I feel that this strategy for this case would be the cleanest and be the easiest to preform. In this case, I wouldn't need to sell 100% of the company, if I had wanted ...

Venture Concept No.1

Opportunity Currently in many schools, they either outright ban the use of students using their own personal devices in their classes because there is no way for the teacher to know what their students are doing on them unless they are looking over the students shoulder at their screen. To solve this, schools have attempted to buy one-to-one computers or iPad for all of their students which can get extremely expensive in initial costs as well as the financial responsibility of replacing and renovating their fleet of computers. The current situation enables an opening in the market for a platform that enables students to use their personal devices in class securely, where ClassroomSync fits itself. This problem is felt across every K-12 school in whole of the US and almost every other country in the world. From our calculations, this segment of the EdTec industry in the US is 30 billion dollars annually. We are unsure how long this window of opportunity will be open, because in the...
